The Art of Racing in the Rain [Fictional (Auto)biography] | Book Review and Discussion
22 Views November 21, 2021The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein is an inspirational, wonderful, and sad story that had me feeling so many different emotions while reading this book. It was such a touching and uplifting story about the life of Enzo the dog, which was told from his own perspective.
“The best drivers focus only on the present. Never dwell on the past, never committing to the future.”
― Garth Stein, The Art of Racing in the Rain
“Racing is about discipline and intelligence, not about who has the heavier foot. The one who drives smart will always win in the end.”
― Garth Stein, The Art of Racing in the Rain
“I’ve always felt almost human. I’ve always known that there’s something about me that’s different than other dogs. Sure, I’m stuffed into a dog’s body, but that’s just the shell. It’s what’s inside that’s important. The soul. And my soul is very human.”
― The Dog Enzo, The Art of Racing in the Rain
“People are always worried about what’s happening next. They often find it difficult to stand still, to occupy the now without worrying about the future. People are generally not satisfied with what they have; they are very concerned with what they are going to have.”
― Garth Stein, The Art of Racing in the Rain
“That which we manifest is before us; we are the creators of our own destiny. Be it through intention or ignorance, our successes and our failures have been brought on by none other than ourselves.”
― Garth Stein, The Art of Racing in the Rain
“There is no dishonor in losing the race. There is only dishonor in not racing because you are afraid to lose.”
― Garth Stein, The Art of Racing in the Rain
